Sarah Rahimaly

Sarah Rahimaly est née à Sherbrooke, en 1996. Son intérêt pour les arts a grandi par la rencontre d’artistes et de professeurs ayant croisé son parcours débutant entre les murs de son école secondaire, dont certains sont à ce jour des mentors nourrissant son identité personnelle et artistique. Elle affirme maintenant une technique plus personnelle en travaillant l’éponge, combinant acrylique et encre, ce qui confère une texture empreinte de sensibilité à ses réalisations, lui permettant d’avoir un contact plus proximal avec les matériaux et le canevas.

Issue d’une famille d’origine perse, indienne et malgache, l’union de ces cultures guide son évolution en tant qu’artiste, ce qui peut être reconnu dans ses choix de palettes de couleurs chaudes et des thèmes aux significations spirituelles. L’art est une opportunité d’affirmer et d’honorer son identité culturelle, ainsi que de célébrer la diversité de son héritage, comme elle s’inspire d’éléments culturels africains et orientaux. Elle a trouvé dans l’ergothérapie et la gérontologie une avenue pour étudier et accompagner l’humain avec une vision holistique et pour participer à l’amélioration de la qualité de vie des individus de sa communauté. Son intérêt pour les sciences de la santé complète sa fascination pour l’être humain et son rapport avec le temps et l’espace, thématique pouvant être observées dans ses réalisations.

Ses œuvres les plus récentes illustrent son évolution artistique, aussi technique que conceptuelle, marquée par un voyage à visée artistique où elle a apprivoisé l’aquarelle dans un cours intensif donné dans une école de dessin à Berlin. Le style signature de l’artiste peut être reconnu dans son utilisation des teintes riches, nuances vibrantes et détails métalliques énigmatiques. S’encrant dans ses racines culturelles, elle explore la question d’identité en s’intéressant à la terre « homeland » et aux relations avec les générations passées.

Sarah Rahimaly was born in Sherbrooke (Quebec), in 1996. Her interest in art grew from meeting an artist and high school art teacher that later came out to be a mentor, nourishing her artistic identity. The artist started experimenting with graphite drawing, then integrated acrylic paint to her work. Back from an intensive watercolor and sketching workshop in Berlin, she recently added new layers to her personal, autodidact technique.

 

Being from a family that originated from Persia, India and Madagascar, the merging of cultures guides her artistic growth, which can be seen from the choice of warm color schemes and themes. Art is an opportunity to affirm and honour cultural identity and to celebrate the diversity of her legacy, as she is inspired by oriental culture and often depicts humans of Persian origin. She found in Occupational Therapy and gerontology a path to improve the quality of life of people of our community, as well as an occasion to study human relations. Her interest towards health sciences completes the fascination for the human being that can be seen in her artwork. 

  

Painting to trigger feelings and energy since now over 10 years, Sarah aspires to expand her exhibitions to broader cites in the following years. The artist’s signature style can be recognized from the use of rich and vibrant hues and eye-catching metallic symbols. Building on her cultural roots, she explores the relations between the human body and mind, through eras and nations.
